Attention: Brownies – Ambassadors. Flex your entrepreneurial muscles and earn some troop funds at our annual Winter Market! Sell your homemade creations to kick start your money earning before cookie season. The Winter Market will take place at this year’s Thin Mint Sprint: Color Run and Cookie Rally - which means there will be more potential customers than ever before! Participants will arrive at Kino Sports Park, set up their booths, sell their creations with all runners and rally guests, then have a chance to enjoy all the Cookie Rally excitement after packing up their booth. Please register all attending Girl Scouts AND registered volunteers that will be hosting the booth. There can be no less than two Girl Scouts and two registered volunteers hosting a booth. Don’t forget to fill out the council Money Earning Activity Form for approval for your Money Earning at Winter Market. No food can be sold at Winter Market.  Registering as a Winter Market Vendor will serve as your entry to the Cookie Rally. All registered vendors will have time scheduled to participate in the rally. Once registered, all details and logistics will be sent via email. To participate as a Winter Market vendor, the troop is required to have participated in most recent cookie AND fall product programs.

Please see the below FAQ section for more information!

Can I be a vendor if my troop hasn’t participated in product program before?

No, we require that all Girl Scout troops participating as a vendor for Winter Market participated in the most recent fall and cookie product programs.

Who do I send my Money Earning Form to?

Once registered for the event, please send the money earning form to Alyssa Kervran at akervran@girlscoutssoaz.org. You can find the form here: https://www.girlscoutssoaz.org/content/dam/girlscoutssoaz-redesign/documents/recruitment/updated-membership-forms/GSSOAZ%20Money%20Earning%20Activities%20w%20Policies.pdf

Do Winter Market Vendors need to pay to register?

Nope! All Girl Scouts and adult volunteers that are registered to be a vendor at this event will not have to pay the registration fee! Vendors will not be able to participate in Thin Mint Sprint, but will have an allotted time to attend the Cookie Rally. Any “tagalongs” (anyone that is not registered as a vendor) that would like to attend will have to pay the registration fee for the event. If you have signed up under “Winter Market Vendors”, you do not have to sign up again for the “Thin Mint Sprint/Cookie Rally” event.

What should we price our items?

The price of the items you are selling is up to the Girl Scouts! Encourage your troop to do market research on what their items may sell for while taking into account the cost of production.

How many items should we make?

This is up to your Girl Scouts to decide! We estimate between 500-1000 attendees at Cookie Rally but this does not mean that every individual will buy your items being sold.

Can we sell food?

Girl Scouts  cannot sell food at Winter Market.

How many Girl Scouts need to be at the booth?

There must be a minimum of 2 Girl Scouts at the booth present at all times. One registered adult must be at the booth at all times. You are encouraged to have additional Girl Scouts present to allow for breaks and time to walk around the market. We recommend having 4-6 Girl Scouts present and you are required to have 2 registered adults present. We recommend no more than 8 Girl Scouts at one booth due to space limitations. Daisies and Juliettes are not allowed to participate in the Winter Market.

What about decorations and signs?

Yes! You will need to bring a table and chairs as well as all of the decorations, labels, price information and signage you need at your booth including a tablecloth if you wish. We recommend having the Girl Scouts create fun signage to display around the booth!

Masks

In accordance with our council guidelines, masks are not required and will be optional for the event. If you are feeling sick, please stay home from the event.

Finances and deposits

All funds from the event must be deposited into the troop account within one week of the event. Please make sure you are calculating your costs and proceeds from the event and that you are filling out deposit slips as required. This will ensure that when there is a troop audit, everything is on the up and up!

Cash and square/clover

Each troop will be responsible for all transactions and any fees incurred (if you elect to take credit cards etc.) during the market. If you plan on accepting cash, please make sure to have change and a cash box available, we will not be providing change or helping with any finances in any way for this event. In addition, we will not be able to provide squares or clovers for the event - however if you have one, you are welcome to use it.

Who is the event open to?

This event is open to all Thin Mint Sprint/Cookie Rally attendees, however it is only open to Girl Scout Troops to sell items.  Winter Market Vendors DO NOT need to register for Thin Mint Sprint/Cookie Rally, as long as all are registered as a Winter Market Vendor. Please encourage fellow Girl Scouts to register for the Cookie Rally and support you by shopping!

Where do I park?

As the event approaches, we will send parking information via email with an image of the entrance for Winter Market Vendors.

What time can I arrive to set up?

Troops are welcome to arrive at 9:00am to set up their booth. Troops will have 1 hour to set up their booth, before Winter Market is opened to the rest of TMS/Cookie Rally participants. It is the troop’s responsibility to bring all items including a table, chairs, decorations and signage. The shopping hours are 10am-12pm. Starting at 12pm, Girl Scout Vendors will have the opportunity to attend the rally while the Winter Market is locked up.

Suggestions

We suggest that Girl Scouts wear their full uniform, and can share why they are selling items to fund their Girl Scouting ambitions. Once you register, the email will include some great photo examples from last year!
