GS adVENTUREs
Embark on an entrepreneurship journey from idea to business.
Combining the existing Girl Scouts curriculum, with design thinking activities, business education, and hands-on learning experiences, GS adVENTUREs expands the entrepreneurship experience into a fluid and flexible program perfect for older Girl Scouts. A Girl Scout Leadership Experience unlike any other, participants walk away with confidence, new entrepreneurship skills, and a business-creation experience.
Pilot 3 (September to November 2024)
Adventurers (GS adVENTUREs Pilot 3 participants) are in for an exhilarating journey as they embark on a thrilling design sprint challenge!
A design sprint is a fun teamwork adventure where we use our imagination to make something cool! We brainstorm ideas, get feedback, pick the best ideas, plan how to make them, build them, and then share them with others!
In just 12 weeks, Adventurers will…
- Earn a level-appropriate entrepreneurship Girl Scouts badge and our council-exclusive GS adVENTUREs patch.
- Have the opportunity to go on two field trips: one to a local business and the other to a maker space where they will create their prototypes.
- Learn how to create a business canvas (a visual business plan)
- Prepare a pitch presentation to share their ideas.
- Meet and work with local mentors.
- Develop their Entrepreneurial Mindset and Design Thinking!
The GS adVENTUREs Pilot 3 program ends with Pitch It!, an innovation competition event. The teams pitch their ideas to a shark-tank-style panel of judges, sharing their progress and designs with friends and family for a chance to win prizes and awards! See the full schedule here.

Program Pathways
What to expect 
Pilot 1 Adventurers attended SVP’s Fast Pitch event and Pilot 2
Adventurers attended Startup Tucson’s TENWEST 2023 IdeaFunding Pitch
competition to see how it’s done in preparation for their pitch days.
Adventurers also visited local businesses, such as Pam’s Fizzy Factory
and Custom BackOffice Solutions to get a behind-the-scenes look at
entrepreneurship in action.
Adventurers visited CATalyst Studios, a Makerspace at the University of
Arizona, where student workers helped them bring their prototype ideas
to life! Throughout the program, Adventurers also work with their
mentors, local professionals who volunteer their time to help guide the
next generation of entrepreneurs.
Pilot 1 Adventurers confidently pitched their business ideas twice. First, they presented to judges, who then decided which three of the five ideas moved forward. The remaining ideas were refined and then presented to a potential investor.
Pilot 2 Adventurers also competed by presenting their ideas at Pitch It!, the GS adVENTUREs pitch competition. The Adventurers developed prototypes from some of those initial ideas and presented them at an Innovation Expo with nearly 100 visitors.
