Girl Scouts is not a religious organization and does not teach religion. For more than a century, Girl Scouts has welcomed girls from every faith tradition and those with no faith affiliation.
The Girl Scout experience is rooted in the Girl Scout Promise and Law, which encourage honesty, fairness, kindness, service, and respect for ourselves and others. These shared values help girls grow in courage, confidence, and character.
Girl Scouting is girl-led. Girls may choose activities and experiences that are meaningful to them, including opportunities to explore their own faith. Faith-related activities and recognitions are optional. No Girl Scout is required to participate in the practices of a particular faith. Every girl belongs, whether or not she chooses to explore these opportunities.
Girl Scouts of the USA offers the My Promise, My Faith pin, which gives girls the opportunity to explore the connection between their own faith and the Girl Scout Law.
Girls at every Girl Scout grade level may choose to earn this pin once each year by examining a line of the Girl Scout Law and connecting it to their faith's teachings. This optional Girl Scout recognition can complement religious recognitions offered by independent faith organizations.

Independent religious organizations may offer faith-specific programs, pins, patches, and recognitions that encourage young people to learn more about their chosen faith.
Religious organizations develop and administer these opportunities themselves, and they are separate from GSUSA’s national programming. Girls and their families may choose to pursue them based on their own beliefs and interests. Participation is not required for Girl Scouting.
The “To Serve God” brochure lists religious recognitions offered by various faith groups. P.R.A.Y. Publishing offers additional information and resources. For faith communities not represented in these resources, families may contact their local religious leaders to learn about available opportunities.
Adult volunteers can help girls discover opportunities that reflect their interests, values, and personal beliefs. When a girl chooses to explore her faith, volunteers and families can help her connect with appropriate resources while respecting every girl's beliefs and choices.
Faith communities can also partner with Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona to create opportunities for leadership, service, and community connection. These partnerships support our shared commitment to helping girls thrive while preserving Girl Scouts’ welcoming environment for girls of every faith and those with no faith affiliation.
