After years of dreaming, planning, fundraising, and construction, girls and their families are invited to celebrate a landmark moment in Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona history: the grand opening of the Angel Charity Place for Girls, our brand-new leadership center!
The festivities will take place on August 26th, from 2:00-5:00pm. To kick off the celebration, Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild will preside over an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2:00pm, followed by an afternoon block party that includes music, food trucks, bounce houses, and games and prizes, as well as activities for kids of all ages.
Girl Scout community partners, including Brain STEM, Summit Hut, Natural Grocers, the University of Arizona’s Women’s Gymnastics team, and others, will contribute to the activities, helping to spotlight the incredible programming opportunities that the new building has to offer.
The two-story, 11,000-square-foot space includes a STEM laboratory, health and fitness center with an indoor climbing wall, art studio and performance spaces, demonstration kitchen, troop and community meeting rooms, and a “Biz Girls Entrepreneurship Lounge.” All together, the building fosters a girl-centric atmosphere where Girl Scouts can take the lead and feel safe to be themselves.
As Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona's CEO Debbie Rich explains, “We
need to make sure today’s girls are acquiring the courage, confidence,
character, and other skills they need to take the reins of leadership
in the 21st century. As a facility dedicated entirely to girl
programming, where girls can seek challenges, take healthy risks,
learn from failure, and connect with their peers, Angel’s Place for
Girls will do exactly that.”
No Girl Scout experience is necessary to attend the Grand Opening! All are welcome to join the fun and discover the endless possibilities for girls to learn, grow, and lead in the new space.
