Ways to Be a Girl Scout
You don't have to be in a troop to participate in Girl Scouts and, at Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona, girls have more choices and ways to participate than ever before. From art to science, camping to career-building, there's something for every girl, no matter what she's passionate about. In fact, 90% of our girl members say that, in Girl Scouts, they learn skills that will help them to be successful in life.
Grab your girl and, together, take a look at all the exciting ways to be a Girl Scout!
You can join a troop and meet new friends, go on field trips, and work on projects together!
Join an existing troop or start a new troop, and you’ll always have something to look forward to! You’ll get together with your friends to conduct experiments and explore the outdoors; and go on field trips to museums, nature centers, science labs, and more. Earn badges as you learn to do all kinds of fun things—like camp out, build robots, make jewelry, go geocaching, play sports, design comic books, launch rocket ships, give back to your community, and so much more.
You can get outdoors and even go to camp!
In Girl Scouts, you’ll develop the kind of outdoor skills it’s hard to get anywhere else, like building a campfire, pitching a tent, or canoeing across a lake. Not to mention all of the opportunities for high adventure! From backpacking to ziplining, Girl Scouts can show you just how much fun it can be to unplug and explore the world around you.
You can travel the country — and maybe even the world!
Exploration. Wanderlust. Curiosity. Risk-taking. We know that girls want to see and experience new things, which is why our travel and high adventure programs are designed to allow girls to stretch their limits and explore their boundaries in a supportive environment. With Girl Scouts, you have the world at your fingertips, so pack your bags and let's get to it!
You can make your community a better place — and have a blast while doing it!
Join Girl Volunteer Corps: our unique community service club for Girl Scouts in 6th through 12th grade. Together, you'll take action on the issues and causes that matter to you through hands-on service projects that you and your fellow Girl Scouts decide on. Girl Volunteer Corps is open to all girls—including those who also belong to a troop—and is a powerful way to make a difference while meeting new friends and having fun.
You can be an Indie Girl Scout, and grow as a leader on your own time, at your own pace!
Indie Girl Scouts are confident, self-motivated girls who want to tailor their Girl Scout experience uniquely to their passions and interests.
It's a fantastic choice for girls busy with extracurricular activities or sports, and offers tons of flexibility. You can do anything girls in a troop can do, from badge-earning and cookie sales to community service and highest awards. You'll even meet new friends by attending council-led programs, spending the summer at camp, or participating in Girl Volunteer Corps.
You can explore your interests and hone your skills through programs and events.
You might want to make a robot, learn a new fitness routine, attend an engineering expo, join a canoe-racing team, polish your anime and manga skills, become a jump-rope master, develop a plan to pay for college, learn how to work on cars, meet college students who can give you the inside scoop on what to expect when you arrive on campus, explore cool careers, and get your hands floury in a cupcake baking workshop… well, you get the idea! It's all possible at Girl Scouts.
