Take your troop to a theater workshop and Broadway production! Learn first-hand how Broadway actors and other world-class artists made it to the top, what life is like on the road, and how the production team creates “magic” on the stage.

Organized by community partners Arts Express, in partnership with Broadway in Tucson and UApresents, this day-long package includes a theater workshop with standout professional artists, lunch, a behind-the-scenes look at the show’s production, and admission to the matinee! All girls will receive an Arts Express fun patch.

About the Workshop:  Revel in the sounds and rhythms of Brazil. In this high energy workshop, you’ll learn the cultural significance of music in Brazil and experience a range of Samba instruments such as; Surdos, Djembes, Agogo Bells, Tamborims and Timbales.

About the Production: The powerhouse all-male Argentinian dance company, Che Malambo, excites audiences with their percussive dance and music spectacle. Malambo is a dynamic blend of precision footwork, rhythmic stomping, drumming and song which originated in the 17th century in the South American pampas. It evolved from competitive duels amongst the Argentine gaucho (South American cowboy) that tested agility, strength and dexterity. It soon evolved to include what is now its hallmark, zapeteo, the fast-paced footwork inspired by the rhythm of galloping horses. Malambo also features the drumming of traditional Argentine bombos and whirling boleadoras, a throwing weapon made up of intertwined cords and weighted with stones.

A discount is available for Girl Scout troops of 10 girls or more! Tickets are $30 per girl (including the workshop, behind the scenes experience, lunch, and performance) and every troop leader who attends with a minimum of 10 girls may attend the program and peformance for FREE! Additional chaperones' tickets are $25 per person.
