Happy Birthday Girl Scouts!

Friday, March 12th, 2010

From Timalee

Today we celebrate 98 years of a movement that started with one little phone call.  Take a moment today to think about Juliette and how forward thinking she was.  I think she'd be very proud of where we are today and the journey we're on.

I give thanks today and celebrate the volunteers I'm lucky enough to work with, the team members I'm so proud to work with and those of you at GSUSA working so hard to help us offer what girls need in ways girls want it.  And I give thanks too for our Sisters in other Councils who

Help Build a Green Lot!

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Ironwood Tree Experience, 4-H, and Southwest Conservation Corp are hosting a February Community Action day at the 4-H High Ropes Course GreenLot. We need youth, especially girls, to help us shape rainwater harvesting basins: digging, rock placement, and planting; or help with the naturally-inspired challenge pathways by placing logs, boulders, and tree stumps; or be creative and help with constructing an adobe/straw bale wall in the shape of a snake. Call Suzanne at 319-9868 x 105 more all the details and specifics on the fun.

What do YOU think about the World?

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Girl Scouts in Southern Arizona celebrated World Thinking Day 2010 with style on Saturday, February 13! World Thinking Day is a day that all of the Girl Scouts and Girl Guides around the world can celebrate the Movement together. This year, with the help of returning Peace Corps volunteers and some International Students from the University of Arizona, troops presented information on their selected country to a crowd of nearly 150 people! If you missed out on the action, check out the footage from the event!
