Ever wondered what it’s like to work in a retail store? The Girl Scout Retail Fashion Forward intern program is designed for girls ages 13 and older who are interested in exploring all facets of retail including marketing, merchandising, promotion and buying.
Interns gain valuable job experience in this fun, structured, successive program that builds on knowledge gained in previous sessions. Discover the inner workings of your very own Girl Scout Shop and be a part of developing Green Girls Reduce, Reuse and Recycle and our Consignment Corner available to troops to use as an outlet to sell items for troop fundraising.
Girls must be at least 13 years old and entering or already enrolled in high school. Space is limited so all girls must fill out an application and attend an interview session to be considered for this program.
Fashion Forward is flexible and designed to work around girls’ busy lives. Girls work in the shop at least one day per week over a 6 – 8 week session…usually at least 2 hours per week but may be significantly more depending on their capabilities. Fashion Forward enables each girl to focus on her interests, however, the overall program is designed to give all girls a well-rounded experience in all facets of retail. The program is successive and progressive and girls are not tied to one specific topic per session as many girls will want to work on an ongoing basis and girls may not all be at the same age or skill level. Every session will incorporate customer service, basic retail marketing, merchandising, purchasing, shop design, trends and money management.
