In 2012, Girl Scouts will celebrate its 100th anniversary. To mark this milestone and to honor founder Juliette Gordon Low, who loved nature and the outdoors, Girl Scouts of all ages, volunteers, and alumnae are taking part in Girl Scouts Forever Green (GSFG). This global, take-action project offers a meaningful leadership experience that makes a huge positive impact on the environment and increases the visibility of Girl Scouts in every community.
Vision Statement
Girl Scouts are at the forefront of environmental sustainability, leading their families, schools, and communities in protecting natural resources.
Reduce Plastic Waste
Goal: To reduce the number of single-use plastic bottles and bags and increase aluminum recycling rates.
What you can do: Use reusable water bottles and bags, and recycle aluminum cans.
Get involved!
Sign-up to help us reduce plastic waste in Southern Arizona. Our goal is to keep 250,000 plastic bags out of the landfill this year. Help us add to this number by recycling your plastic bags at any Bashas or Food City location or dropping them off at a Council Resource Center.
To sign-up as an individual, family or troop, send an email to Kristi Pallack with the following information: Names of people participating, Troop # (if applicable), your goal. We’ll send you a toolkit to help you reach your goal so that we can reach our goal!
Plastic bags collected so far: 103,000! Keep up the good work!
