Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona Collecting Supplies for Hurricane Harvey Relief

You Can Make A Difference

As Hurricane Harvey continues to cause devastation, many of our Girl Scouts have reached out to ask how they can help those affected, and we know many across our community in Southern Arizona are feeling the same.

As a council, Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona has partnered with World Care, a Tucson-based humanitarian aid organization, to help collect supplies to assist with the relief effort. Over the next two weeks, from 8:30-5:00pm, you can drop off donations at our Tucson Volunteer Resource Center at 4300 E Broadway Blvd.

Specifically, we are working to gather the following much-needed items. (All donations should be new and unopened.)

Flood and Mold Damage Cleaning Supplies:

  • ZEP Mold and Mildew Stain Remover

  • Moldex

  • Bleach

  • Gloves

  • Mops

  • Buckets

  • Sponges

  • Garbage bags

  • 3M Mold respirators

Hygiene Supplies:

  • New towels

  • Toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss

  • Shampoo and conditioner

  • Hand soap, bar soap

  • Deodorant

  • Razors/shaving cream

  • Toilet paper

  • Feminine hygiene products

  • Diapers (adult, baby)

  • Hand sanitizers

For girls looking for other ways to help, we recommend Girl Scouts' Disaster Recovery resources.

These two program resources demonstrate how the Girl Scout Leadership Experience empowers girls as leaders in times of disaster. The girl-friendly guide offers tips and examples for how girls can make a difference, while the adult guide can support volunteers in helping girls channel their leadership and take action skills toward disaster relief.
