On Leadership
Leadership means focusing on individuals, coaching and mentoring to help each achieve goals and be their best. Leadership is inspiring others, thinking outside the box and showing by example. I believe that if it is not broken, fix it; as it will eventually be broken and you will be ahead of the curve. Challenge yourself daily and challenge those that work with you: learn something new, experience something new and never act as old as you are.
My Girl Scouting Experience
I was a Brownie, Junior and Cadette. Growing up in rural West Virginia some of my most memorable experiences surround Girl Scouting, camping and making s’mores. Even today I still have a deep love for s’mores and recently when my husband had 45 business associates in town from Europe, England and Asia we made s’mores for dessert. They had never seen this American creation and vowed to carry it home with them. What better favor of our country can one get than s’mores?
Advice for girls
Never give up your dreams, keep trying and working toward them. Things happen for a reason, and sometimes life gives you lemons and you need to take them and make the best lemonade possible. Never be afraid to make choice, even hard choices; if your instinct says it is right, listen as you are your own best compass. Look for mentors, either in your family, relationships, school and church; there is no substitute for a great mentor and coach.
Inspiration
Work hard, work clean, work smart. No matter what you are asked to do even if it is to dig a ditch, dig a great ditch as this represents who you are; and you should be proud of who you are!” -Robert S. Lutton ( my dad)
