On Leadership

To me, leadership means one thing: inspiring others to greatness- by example. Leadership means living your best life, taking risks and believing in yourself, setting goals, having big dreams, with open eyes and making them come true. Leadership means showing in the world as kindness and strength. It means not playing small.

Gina Murphy-Darling is better known as Mrs. Green, radio host and blogger on all things green. While Mrs. Darling was never a Girl Scout her actions on behalf of the environment earn her a special place in our hearts, especially in light of the Girl Scouts’ 100th Anniversary Forever Green campaign, a national effort of girls leading their families, schools, and communities in improving the environment and protecting natural resources. To girls who are seeking leadership advice, Murphy-Darling emphasizes that while life will have its obstacles, perseverance is key. Not only should you surround yourself with people who believe in you and support you, you also need to believe in yourself. “Every single one of us has what it takes to be a leader- in whatever way that looks like for us.”
