On Leadership
A leader must have vision for what is needed for a strong community. A leader realizes that it is important to bring together people with different strengths and work with them to create a consensus for what has to be done to accomplish a mutual goal. A leader has to be prepared to inspire others to join her in completing her vision.
Esther Capin grew up in Los Angeles, California where she participated in Girl Scouts and earned the prestigious First Class Bar. Since her Girl Scouting days Capin has continued to “help people at all times” and “make the world a better place.” A long time resident of Southern Arizona, Capin served the community as a mental health counselor at the Santa Cruz Guidance Center for ten years. She also served for 16 years on the Arizona Board of Regents, including two terms as president. Since her retirement, Capin has continued to be “considerate and caring” through her myriad of philanthropic work.
