On Leadership
A leader is similar to being a conductor of orchestra or chorus. She communicates to the performers her interpretation of the music. All the performers bring wonderful talent & skill to the whole ensemble — the key is to lead them to beautiful music.
As a girl scout, I have enjoyed bringing girls together as if they were this type of musical ensemble. This includes leading girls and training adult volunteers. I have also used this method in business. Bringing a group of people together, utilizing there talents to complete a goal, perform service projects and even complete troop try-its.
Advice for girls
Seek a mentor to guide you in your life journey. I had three prominent women in my life that greatly affected my life — they include, my mother, a music professor and a Girl Scout Leader. These women gave me their own special skills that helped me build courage, confidence and character. Hmmm sounds familiar, eh? Their example as leaders gave me the foundation to be, I believe, a good leader. And I am forever grateful.
