Channel your inner geek

Saturday, December 18th, 2010

I bet most of you think that the only people who really use technology are geeks. Thick glasses, oily hair and no social life. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure those people still exist somewhere, but we're here to tell you that we've all got an inner geek (no matter how chic you are)- and it's okay to let her out!

Let's break it down. What is technology? What is it good for? What's it gonna do for you? How many of you have a myspace or a facebook? Do you tweet? Are you constantly attached to a cell phone? I bet you've played a video game before. I hate to break it to you girls, but you all just admitted your inner geek. Congratu

lations!! :)

With Girl Scouts, and a partnership with Pima County Public Libraries you can take what you already know about technology and get to the next step. We'll prepare you to interact with the world as a digital citizen. Develop job skills that can be used anywhere- and- if you continue with the program, you'll have an opportunity to teach beginner computer classes and get paid!

Join us at our next interest meeting on January 27, 2011 from 4:30-6:30pm at the Girl Scout Resource Center (4300 E Broadway, Tucson). For more information on IT Girls, you can contact Kristen Cure at kristen.cure@pima.gov or Jennifer Lehmann at jlehmann@sahuarogsc.org.
