Stewards of the {not} Mountain

Due to a TON of snow on the mountain, we had to move our Stewards of the Mountain program to the Hacienda this weekend. We had about 75 volunteers come out and help do 10 different projects from digging in the pond to landscaping and even trash duty! Thanks to all of our Girl Scouts who came out to help and to our Disney Give a Day Get a Day volunteers for all their hard work! You guys all rock! Here are some pictures from this weekend!

A Better World Inspired By U…

A better world inspired by you! The Sahuaro Girl Scout Council has challenged girls to reach out into their communities and inspire; they need your help! On behalf of over 13,000 Girl Scouts in Southern Arizona, we are asking you to please consider participating in our Troop to Troop program by donating a case of cookies (or more!) to our military troops overseas.

Troop to Troop is a unique program where Girl Scouts and our community come together to bring a little taste of home to our military troops overseas. By partnering with a non-profit organization, Operation Gratitude, Sahuaro Girl Scout Council has delivered thousands of cookies from Southern Arizona to military troops stationed all around the world! With your help we are hoping to once again send thousands of boxes to our brave military troops stationed overseas. By contributing as little as $48 your business can send 12 boxes of cookies overseas; a truly small price to pay to bring a little comfort to our troops.

To contribute to the Troop to Troop Program please complete and return the attached order form by March 10, 2010. Your tax deductible donation is of tremendous value to the Girl Scouts in Southern Arizona and your cookie donation will certainly brighten the faces of military men and women serving our country. PS—Our goal is to ship 15,000 boxes to our troops. As of today we only have 4,000 ready to go!

Are YOU an IT Girl?

Girls met with representatives from the Council and the Pima County Library this afternoon for an informational meeting on our new IT Girls program! Girls will learn more about computers, some basic programming, shadow women who work in the IT field and get the chance to teach basic computer classes in a paid internship! Way to go Girls!

What do YOU think about the World?

Girl Scouts in Southern Arizona celebrated World Thinking Day 2010 with style on Saturday, February 13! World Thinking Day is a day that all of the Girl Scouts and Girl Guides around the world can celebrate the Movement together. This year, with the help of returning Peace Corps volunteers and some International Students from the University of Arizona, troops presented information on their selected country to a crowd of nearly 150 people!
