While the focus of the mission is on girls in grades K-12, adults can also feel more courageous and confident from being involved as a Girl Scout volunteer. Just ask Marie Miller, troop leader and service unit manager from Blairsville. Miller — who describes herself as shy and reserved — credits Girl Scouts with helping her be more confident in her ability to lead others. “If someone told me 10 years ago I’d be leading a Girl Scout troop, I wouldn’t have believed them,” Miller said. This service is helped by incentives for charitable giving in our tax code. Thanks to your support, this past summer, in partnership with others from the nonprofit sector, Girl Scouts achieved an amazing victory when the House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved charitable giving legislation. However, differences with the Senate stalled progress. Now, as Congress returns for a post-election session, we need your help to make these charitable tax provisions permanent.   • Fly Your Troop Flag Over the Capital

    The Daughters of the American Revolution would like to present your troop a flag flown over the capital in honor of your girls!  Your troop can enter to be the lucky winners by submitting a short video of your girls sharing how they serve their country as Girl Scouts.  Send your video to tnevels@girlscoutssoaz.org  Enter by November 30th.   Be creative- your entry can be a skit, song, dramatic reading etc!  All entries will be featured on our facebook page and website.  Winning entry will receive their flag at a DAR meeting on Saturday, April 18th.
