Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona partner with TEP to distribute CFL's

We've received an amazing donation of 100,000 Compact Florescent Light Bulbs from Tucson Electric Power to distribute throughout our Cookie Sale this year as thank you gifts to our community. Working together, TEP and Girl Scouts will save the community over $500,000 in energy savings and eliminate 57,749,471 pounds of CO2 from the environment! WOW!

  • Girls will be receiving their CFL bulbs at buy viagra online our Cookie Drop on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 2 Tucson locations.
  • The Girl Scouts Cookie Sale

starts on Saturday, January 19, 2013.

As part of the partnership, TEP has developed an instructional video for girls that teaches them why we should use CFL bulbs instead of incandescent bulbs, and why this is such an amazing opportunity for them to be able to “Do A World of Good” during their Cookie Sale. Watch the videos in both English and Spanish below. (Hover over the video and click int he right hand bottom corner to view it full screen)

Girl Scouts will also be distributing the CFL Bulbs at many other community events this year:

In addition to distributing the bulbs during the cookie sale and at community events, Girl Scout Juniors will be distributing bulbs at the their schools as part of a unique educational opportunity made possible by our Girl Scouts Forever Green initiative and the Alcoa Foundation. Juniors (4th & 5th graders) will use the Get Moving! curriculum and focus on studying the difference between light bulbs, building materials, and insulation in order to conduct an energy audit at their schools. The girls will then come up with a plan to Take Action and share the information they learned with the faculty and student body at their school. Once they find a way to present the information, students will be able to take home a bulb to start Taking Action in their homes. If you would like to schedule this opportunity for your troop or your school, please contact Kristi Pallack at kpallack@girlscoutssoaz.org.

We are extremely grateful to Tucson Electric Power for this amazing opportunity to be able to have such a great impact on our community. Beyond saving over $500,000 in energy savings, check out these incredible statistics from our Girl Scouts Forever Green impact report:
