Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona and Little Brownie Bakers are partnering for an exciting opportunity this fall!

The Girl Scout Snack Bar Program is an innovative pilot program that will allow our Girl Scouts to make history by being the first to market this new product. Today’s consumers are looking for wholesome snack choices. Girl Scout Snack Bars are the perfect on-the-go treat for today’s busy lifestyles. The concept behind this pilot sale is to offer our membership the opportunity to participate in market research, earn proceeds for their troop, and evaluate the product’s potential for the future.

Participation in this sale will be an option for all troops who register for the 2012-2013 Girl Scout year. Troops who have not already registered should do so as soon as possible. Remember that if you register your troop online by September 15th that you will get a $20 shop credit!

Mark your calendar for a snack bar training. In this session we will discuss how the snack bar program will function and how your troop can get involved. Once you have attended a call or in-person training and submitted the required forms, you will be given the tools you need to get your troop ready for the sale.

Snack Bar Training will be held on the following dates:

September 11- 6pm

September 13- 6pm

September 14- 11am

September 15- 10am

We will host all posted trainings in person at our council offices at 4300 E. Broadway Blvd as well as via conference call.

See below for additional information on the Girl Scout Snack Bars. We know that you may have questions, and more information will be sent out soon. Until then, please contact Melissa Varga at mvarga@girlscoutssoaz.org or Megan Black at mblack@girlscoutssoaz.org with any needs.

About the Product

What is this new product?

Girl Scout Snack Bars are perfect for on-the-go snacking. They’re packed with wholesome ingredients like hearty rolled oats, crispy cereal flakes and chewy granola. For just a touch of decadence, there’s the right amount of chocolaty-smooth coating – a dip for the bottom and a drizzle for the top. There are two varieties:

  • Tagalongs™ are chewy snack bars with chocolaty drizzles and peanut-butter chips, combining two perfect flavors.
  • Double Dutch are chewy snack bars with chocolaty drizzles and dark-chocolate chips, making it twice as delicious.

Each bar has 4g of protein, 4g fiber and 110 calories. The snack bars contain no high fructose corn syrup, no trans fats, no artificial colors, and are made with 100% real cocoa.

Has this food been tested with consumers?

Yes, the food has been tested through what is called iHut (in-home user test) by a panel of consumers who ate the food and evaluated it favorably based on taste, appearance and a number of other factors.

About the Sale

How do the girls benefit from participation?

Girls in our council make history by being among the very first in the country to sell the new snack bars – and generate extra funds for their activities. The program offers girls contemporary learning experiences in business, product innovation and career opportunities. They will enjoy a fun website experience designed just for their learning and feedback. They will further the Five Skills learned through the Girl Scout product sale experience. They also can earn a patch for participation, as well as extra funds for their activities.

How will the sale work?

Girl Scout Snack Bars will be offered in Southern Arizona as a pre-order sale this Fall. Girls will take orders from customers from September 28th-October 7th and the product will be delivered to troops on October 27th for distribution and money collection. Snack bar trainings will be offered in September; we will send out more details about these trainings soon! It is essential that your troop is registered for the upcoming Girl Scout year in order to participate in this program.

How much will they cost?

Our council will be selling boxes of 5 snack bars for $4; $1 of the proceeds will go to the participating troop, and $1 will be council proceeds to serve girls in Southern Arizona.
