Call to Action: A local teen is currently in need of our community’s help. Delia Gonzalez, an 18 year old battling severe aplastic anemia, desperately needs a bone marrow transplant. On Sunday June 3rd, friends of Delia are hosting two recruitment drives to raise awareness about the need for marrow donors, and in hopes of finding a matching donor for Delia and many other patients like her.
Southern Arizonans can take the first step to save a life by joining the Be The Match Registry between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on June 3, 2012, and completing a simple cheek swab. Donors with diverse racial or ethnic backgrounds are especially critical, as patients in need of a transplant are most likely to match someone of their own race and Ethnicity.
If you are 18 and over, please join the Be The Match registry. You have the power to save a life. On Sunday join the registry and show that small actions can make a huge impact through the power of community.
*If you are Hispanic you have an even greater chance of being Delia’s match! The goal is to register 200 Hispanic donors.
