During his 2011 back to school speech, President Barack Obama announced:  “America needs your passion, your ideas, and your energy right at this moment….Nothing inspires me more than knowing that young people all across the country are already making their marks”  This week, GenerationOn, the youth service division of the Points of Light Institute, presents Make Your Mark Week to inspire and mobilize kids of all ages to use their energy, ingenuity and compassion to “make their mark on the world” through hands-on service.

Make Your Mark Week is a service campaign that encourages young people to do small acts and/or service projects that together make a big impact on their lives, their communities and the world. The week focuses on issues that matter most to kids – animal welfare, the environment, homelessness, hunger and literacy – and culminates on Make A Difference Day, the largest national day of service. In return for distributing the campaign message through your networks and to your youth, we’ll promote your organization to Make Your Mark Week participants!

It’s an opportunity for kids to focus on issues that matter most to them and to support those issues with small acts of service that come together to create big changes.  This year, Make Your Mark Week focuses on five issue areas that matter most to young people: animals, the environment, homelessness, hunger and literacy. You can help to support Make Your Mark Week by sharing ways that kids can make their mark through your social networks.
