Girl Scouts across the country participate in a variety of physical activities and learn the basics of health and nutrition. From learning to throw and catch at five years old to learning to surf and fence at 14 to learning to fight anorexia and obesity, fun and fitness is the name of the game. It’s time to get moving! Away from the couch and onto the soccer field, yoga mat, and dance studio. Away from fast-food fries and the candy aisle into the kitchen creating banana smoothies and low-fat dips. Here are some ideas to get your community moving in the right direction:
- Make and Donate Jump Ropes: Collect jump ropes for kids or organizations that can’t afford them. Better yet, make your own! Here are instructions on how to make a jump rope using dried out markers!
- Bike Share Program: Did you know that we have a bike share program? Get involved by collecting and donating bicycles, spreading the word and going on a bike ride! Cycling helps you stay fit and helps reduce pollution.
- Host a Workshop: Get your friends and neighbors moving! Host a yoga, aerobics, walk, run or anything active in your neighborhood to promote fitness and exercise. Let us know about it and we’ll help promote your workshop!
