Women’s Foundation Seeks Applicants for Girls’ Philanthropy Program

The Women’s Foundation of Southern Arizona is seeking 15 high school-aged young women in greater Tucson to participate in Unidas, a girls’ philanthropy program.  Unidas focuses on community service and leadership, social justice and grant-making.  Participants will walk through a grant-making process and award $7,500 to the community organizations that best address the core issue they select.

Applications will be accepted through September 15, 2011.

Unidas – What is it?

Unidas focuses on community service, leadership, social justice and grant-making.

Participants will:

  • discuss, research and analyze social justice issues facing young women
  • review grant applications and conduct site visits
  • give away $7,500 to community organizations!
  • gain valuable community leadership and consensus-building skills
  • become philanthropic gurus and dynamic community activists!

Required Commitments:

  • Retreat: Saturday, September 24, 2011 10am-3:30pm
  • Bi-weekly Meetings: 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month October 6, 2011-May 3, 2012 4-6pm.

You should apply if you are:

  • 14-19 years old
  • interested in
  • able to commit to scheduled meetings and occasional assignments
