In May IGT will be embarking on a very exciting stage of our process. Three Scenario Building Workshops will offer the public an opportunity to provide their own ideas and insights into how Tucson should grow and change into the future. These workshops will be energetic, hands-on experiences resulting in a wealth of new and creative ideas for our region. The concepts the public shares with us in May will directly inform the creation of alternative future scenario options that will be shared again with the public in the Fall 2011. In other areas these workshops have proven to be fun and successful events (see an example here – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdZFJwUM33s).
These workshops will be large undertakings and we need your help to make sure they are successful! Participants will be grouped into tables of 8-10 people. For each group we need a “table facilitator” to help guide people through the scenario building exercise. This is not as difficult as it sounds and we have lots of support and many different options to prepare you for this task! Please consider signing up to help us out at one or more of the three events (please sign up using links at bottom of email). As a facilitator we ask that you be able to maintain a neutral role in guiding participants through the exercise.
Scenario Building Workshop Dates:
May 18: Tucson Convention Center (5:30-8:00pm – facilitators to arrive by 4:00). Goal: 400 participants (40-50 facilitators)

May 25: Desert Diamond Casino, I-19 and Pima Mine Road (5:30-8:00 – facilitators to arrive by 4:00). Goal: 250 participants (25-30 facilitators)
Training Options:
For those who are available to facilitate there are a variety of options for training.
1. Mandatory training for all facilitators will take place immediately before each event, at the venue from 4:00-5:00pm. (Note: If you facilitate more than one workshop, you need only attend the first training)
2. Everyone is strongly encouraged to take advantage of additional training options:
a. Two informal “run-throughs” of the scenario building exercise, with additional background and support will be offered: May 10th 11-1; May 12th 5:30-7:30 (Venues TBD)
b. You are invited to observe at one of two pilot tests of the workshop: April 21st with the Community Liason Forum (4:30-6:30, Venue TBD), and May 5th with UofA Staff and Faculty (12:30-2:00)
c. Training materials will be posted on the IGT website ahead of the events
