Countdown to the National Convention!

The Girl Scouts National Council was formed in 1915 at the first annual convention. At that first meeting the delegates adopted a constitution and bylaws, and founder Juliette Gordon Low was elected national president. While the frequency of the National Council Sessions has changed over the decades, delegates are elected and come to the National Council Sessions to conduct important business to further the Girl Scout movement in the United States.

In November of this year, thousands of girls and adults- delegates and official visitors will assemble in Houston to begin the celebration of our 100th anniversary. At yesterdays annual meeting our Council delegates voted on our slate of National Delegates. We had many applications and only 9 slots for delegates. Our slots have been allocated to our Chief Girl Scout, The Board Chair, a staff member, volunteers and of course … girls! The official delegates representing our Council are: Debbie R. , Bill H. Kristi P., Lhasa C. , Tehjan F., Sharon O. , Alex D., Lauren E., Kelly S., Jennifer M., and Mary W. The other girls who applied to be delegates will ALL be coming along to attend the national Girl Scout Leadership Institute as well as the convention festivities and celebrations. Those girls are: Christina S., Angelica R., Siobhan F., Samantha W., Katelyn R., and Amanda Mc P.

How can you get in on the fun? Older girls (14+ at the time of the convention) are able to register to attend as official visitors. These visitors can attend the business meeting as well as visit the hall of exhibitors.
