On Wednesday, January 5, Junior Troop #518 and their sister Brownie Troop, both from Mesa Verde Elementary School, visited the Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Farm. They rode the monster truck and had a female drive – Danna – who was totally awesome. The girls learned about the Sonoran Desert, the civil war battle fought at Picacho Peak, and everything you ever wanted to know about Ostriches. It was as educational as it was fun. The girls got to touch a frozen dead rattlesnake, hold an ostrich egg, and try ostrich jerky. They fed the deer, ostrich, goats, donkeys and the larakeets, which would perch right on their arms and head! Some of the girls even kissed a goat! We highly recommend this adventure for an troop.
