Got a chance to chat with our go-to cookie dads working the council cookie cupboard this afternoon. I’d like to officially introduce you to Michael and Chris! I’m sure you’ve all seen them or talked to them. They’ve loaded case after case of cookies into your cars, usually carrying 8 cases at a time… but why do they do it? Well, I asked them! Here’s the scoop:

Super Kristi: What’s your favorite part about working in the cookie cupboard?

Michael: Seeing the individual Girl Scouts coming out and carrying cases of cookies to their cars with a smile on their face- they are so excited!

Chris: I agree. Seeing the smiles on their faces- they are working for something. They are setting goals and achieving goals. You can see their drive in their smiles. They are excited to come and pick up more cases of cookies. We watch all these moms who are driving from school to soccer to dance and then here to pick up cookies- [Girl Scouts] is the glue that keeps families together! (Mike adds: which is stronger than the glue on a case of Thin Mints!)

Super Kristi: What inspires you guys to volunteer?

Michael: I love getting caught up in the excitement of doing something good for the community. Girl Scouts gives girls attainable goals. They fulfill a need. This is my small part of serving the community. These girls are out here doing something positive for themselves and their community instead of out getting into trouble. I’m happy to be a part of it.

Chris: It feels good to help out. Its kind of funny seeing these ladies panic about who’s going to do what, but when I’m here standing by- it seems to make things better.

Super Kristi: What’s your favorite Girl Scout Cookie?

Michael: Lemon Chalet’s!

Chris: Tagalongs. I faithfully eat a box for breakfast every morning.

Super Kristi: What is the most amount of cases you’ve stuffed into a vehicle so far?

Michael: 200 cases into a Toyota Matrix… and they almost all fit.

Chris: a little over 175 in a compact car.

So, next time you are at council, or even in the neighborhood stop by the cookie cupboard and thank these dads for all they do! Have a story about your Cookie Dad? Share it with us on Facebook for a chance to win an awesome prize!
