Three senior Girl Scouts—Bridget McKay, Lea Theodorou and Kendall Welliver—are striving to earn their Gold Awards by raising funds to outfit the 5th floor playroom at Diamond Children’s Medical Center at University Medical Center.
The girls are juniors at Catalina Foothills High School. Theodorou’s parents are both pediatricians at Diamond Children’s Medical Center.
Hoping to raise $20,000, the Girl Scouts will host a fashion show and luncheon at noon on Jan. 23 at Tucson Country Club, 2950 N. Camino Principal.
Participants in the fashion show are 20 children who were once patients at UMC. Dillard’s department stores is providing the clothing and Gadabout Salons will do the hair and makeup for the models. Additionally, there will be a silent auction.
Tickets for the event are $75 each. All of the profits will go to the playroom at Diamond Children’s Center, which is where patients can go to help escape their fright, boredom or pain from their hospital stay.
