Members of the Peña Blanca Daisy Troop 1895 helped spread the holiday cheer when they made Christmas door hangers and hand-delivered them to residents of the Carondelet Holy Cross Hospital Nursing Home on Dec. 15.
According to troop leader Cristina Pierce, the residents broke into huge smiles and started clapping when the girls walked in.
“It was such a tender moment to see how the elderly faces lit up when the girls walked in the room saying Merry Christmas,” Pierce said. “The RN said it was a very nice gesture since many of them never have visitors, much less children. In Daisy Girl Scouts we try to instill good values such as being considerate and caring, and I think they did a good job.”
The Peña Blanca Daisy Troop 1895 is comprised of girls in kindergarten and first grade. Karina Nido is the troop’s co-leader.
