Our Troop’s project will be in conjunction with the Marana Food Bank Farm. We will be creating earthworks and basins to support a garden near their washing station, where there is a lot of water run-off from the wash sinks.
The girls can gain experience with creating earthworks to help the water flow in the direction towards the garden. The girls can also learn about digging a garden, supplementing the soil with beneficial nutrients, and also be able to plant some seedlings/seeds. We will be assisting in building water harvesting centers for the farm. We will be able to measure our success and how we made a difference by the amount of water that does not pool on the ground and instead sustains plant life.
